Module No 7: Occupational Health
and Safety

Module Purpose
This Module is designed
to help participants review and improve safety at work. The focus is on reducing
risks of injury to the driver. Strategies for reducing the risk of injury from
attack are identified. Safe driving practice is emphasised and reviewed. Safe
lifting practice is emphasised. Key safety procedures in the event of an accident
or breakdown are identified. This Module helps participants analyse general
risks to health associated with taxi driving. It helps participants plan to
reduce these risks and improve health through stress reduction, diet, exercise
and monitoring of health. The Module raises awareness of taxi driver's rights
with regard to insurance and Worker's Compensation.
